Grated Cucumber Raita

Grated cucumber raita is my younger ones  favourite. Its my favourite too. I love the freshness of the cucumber along with tadka it gets. Whenever we make this at home, me and younger one have to our fill but still we would fight for the last spoon of raita in the bowl. He usually ends up having more raita than rice lunch



Serves... 2 ppl
Serve option... Chilled or Room Temperature

This is what u'll need....

Cucumber - 1
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tspn
Urad dal - 1/4 tspn
Curry leaves - few
Green chilly - 1
Salt to taste

Here is the stir....

  • Peel and grate cucumber 

  • Transfer this to a wide bowl
  • Add a little salt as per your taste
  • In a small pan heat oil. Add mustard seeds followed by urad dal
  • When the urad dal turns a little brown add a slit green chilly
  • Add a few curry leaves and turn off the flame
  • Pout this into the grated cucumber
  • Whisk curd lightly and add it to the bowl
  • Mix gently till everything is blended well
  • Serve chilled or as is along with Biryani or pulao and enjoy


                                    Note:
                                    • Green chilly adds a fresh flavour to the raita
                                    • Dont let it sit for very long before you eat it. Tastes best when fresh
