Baby Corn - 65

Tried this babycorn-65 few months back and it was a huge hit with the kids. They loved it so much that I had to make it a few more times again to enjoy this quick snack. Jsut cut the baby corn, cook them dip them in a simple batter and finally deep fry it. Doesnt that sound simple. Oh yes it is simple to make as much as it sounds

Whenever you have babycorn at home and have sudden guests you can make this for them in no time. Everyone will love it for sure

Serves... 3 ppl
Serve option... Hot

This is what u'll need...

Baby corn - 8-10
All-purpose flour /Maida - 2 tbspn
Corn Flour - 2 tbspn
Baking powder - 1/8 tspn
Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tspn
Red chilli powder - 1/4 tspn
Oil for frying 
Chaat masala for sprinkling 
Salt to taste

Here is the stir....
  • Cut each babycorn into 3 or 4 pieces and toss them into a pressure cooker
  • Add some salt to the cooker along with some water

  • Pressure cook the babycorn pieces for 4-5 whistles
  • Let the pressure go down. Drain the cooked pieces using a strainer and keep it aside
  • Measure 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour/maida into a wide bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of corn flour into the bowl too

  • Add a pinch of baking powder to the flour
  • Spoon in half a teaspoon of ginger garlic paste into the flour
  • Add salt and red chilli powder to taste
  • Pour water little by little and mix the flour and spices to make a thick paste

  • Toss in the cooked babycorn pieces into the prepared batter, few at a time
  • Heat oil in a kadhai. Drop in few coated babycorn pieces into the hot oil 
  • Fry them till they are crisp on the outside. Keep stirring occasionally to cook them evenly on all sides
  • When done drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil
  • Sprinkle some chaat masala if you like. Serve with some spicy chutney or sauce and enjoy

                                            • Fry on medium-high flame
                                            • Add any other spices you like to enhance the flavours
